Who
is this Stinky, anyway?
Stinky Records was
founded at the beginning of the 21st Century by Sabrina
Silverberg, a longtime music attorney (but don’t hold that
against her!) and music fanatic. Having worked in the music
industry for many years, Sabrina grew frustrated at seeing great
artists struggling to garner attention within the music
business. Today, Sabrina runs Stinky Records together with
partner Tom Sarig, an erstwhile major label A&R executive, who
also manages such artists as Against Me!, Annuals, Blonde
Redhead, Fair to Midland, Rickie Lee Jones, Le Tigre, Lou Reed,
Langhorne Slim, and She Wants Revenge.
At Stinky Records, our mission is to be an artist-friendly
sanctuary for artists of integrity, innovation, passion and wit.
Since Stinky Records will reflect our eclectic tastes, its
roster will be eclectic, as well -- to wit…

Okay,
so why "Stinky"?
To answer the most oft-asked
question about us: sure, the name is a bit of a joke, but we trust
in our intended audience's grasp of irony. At the same time, the
name "Stinky" embodies the spirit of cheekiness, irreverence and
resistance to pigeonholing of the record label that refuses to
be labeled. Here at Stinky Records, our slogan is "MAXIMUM
CHEEK"!
